The Story Behind Our Wedding Design

When we first started planning our wedding, I knew one thing for sure: I didn’t want a traditional black-and-white wedding, and I definitely wasn’t going the barn route. I wanted our wedding to feel soft, colorful, meaningful, and completely us.

Ironically, a lot of my inspiration actually came from my husband’s last name: Flowers.

From there, everything started coming together naturally - watercolor-inspired details, romantic florals, soft pastel colors, and an overall feeling that was light, timeless, and welcoming. Since we decided to travel and get married on the East Coast, I leaned even more into those coastal, airy touches that made the whole weekend feel dreamy and relaxed.

The color palette definitely evolved a few times along the way, but once I found the right combination of colors that complemented each other well, it all finally clicked into place.

One of the most special parts of the entire experience was that I planned and coordinated everything myself. We stayed at our venue for four days with our families and wedding party, and honestly, it felt more like a meaningful trip together than just a wedding day. Because I handled all the details myself, I was able to make every part of the weekend feel personal.

I designed our invitations, menus, reception details - truly everything. Looking back, I would recommend to every bride that if there are smaller details you can DIY yourself, do it. Not only does it save money (which feels crucial in the $50K wedding world these days), but it also makes the experience feel so much more meaningful.

One of my favorite moments was hearing how much people loved our invitations because I had hand-designed and printed them myself. Those little details ended up meaning the most to me.

There are honestly so many more wedding details and stories I’d love to share, so maybe a full wedding series will be coming soon.
